How do I find my personalized heart rate metrics?

Last Updated: Jun 26, 2015 02:38PM PDT
iOS:
Our age-based heart rate metrics are generalized for a very large population, and thus, are vague for the individual. Everyone has a unique resting and maximum heart rate, which depend on a variety of factors other than age. To get more accurate metrics, toggle the "Based on age" option to "off" and input your own metrics.

To calculate your heart rate metrics, follow these suggestions:
  • For resting heart rate, take a recording of your heart rate right after you wake up, before you even get out of bed. This will give you your base heart rate.

  • For maximum heart rate, take a recording of your heart rate right after some intense exercise, such as after sprinting. This will give you a relatively accurate maximum heart rate.
In addition to these measurements, try the StandUp Test to further your measure your body's health.
